WENS-TV PRODUCTIONS is a division of Koontz Media, Inc. and is designed for "live" and "recorded" video productions for the Internet. Koontz Media, Inc. also owns WENS-TV which produces a variety of video features, programs and other content as "virtual television."

Koontz Media is owned by Ken Koontz, a veteran of more than 40 years in media, most of it in television. His broadcast career began in September 1969 as the first African-American news reporter at Charlotte, NC’s, #1-rated WBTV News (CBS).

His 14 years career at WBTV included reporter, anchor and Director of Community Affairs before leaving to form a public relations consultancy specializing in broadcast media. Ken Koontz & Associates Public Relations was Charlotte's first black-owned consultancy of its type. He also served 4 years (1991-1995) as a National Sports Producer and a National News Producer for NBC’s new Charlotte division NBC News Channel, which launched the nation’s first “live” network overnight newscast, "NBC Nightside."

In August 1995, Ken made another significant and historic move when he launched All-Stars Communications, LLC. He became only the second African-American in the nation to establish a company that owns and operates a Ku-band satellite uplink truck. The All-Stars unit was one of an estimated 1,000 such trucks operating nationwide. All-Stars is used primarily by national news and sports networks to transmit "live" reports, sports and other video from major events in remote locations. All-Stars operations have included but have not been limited to: hurricanes and other major weather disasters; Presidential debates and political campaigns (including Mexico Presidential Elections from Mexico City for Televisa Network); Super Bowls and World Series; college tournaments and NCAA Championships and bowl games; etc. Ken remains as Founding Partner of All-Stars.

Ken stepped down as All-Stars’ Managing Partner in February 2008 to devote fulltime to developing and establishing his sole ownership of another pioneering venture, WENS-TV and WENS-TV Productions. Ken’s vision seeks to capitalize on the emerging and yet underserved demand and need for video content online.

Ken is a native of Beaumont, TX, and a 1972 graduate of Johnson C. Smith University with a BA in French. He is the divorced father of three adult children and grandfather of three others. He is a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he is a member of the Men’s Choir.
