Sherry Waters

Sherry Waters is the publisher of The Koinoiah magazine which highlights individuals, businesses and other groups who are exemplifying good community stewardship. Sherry has also worked in the nonprofit arena for 15 years. She is passionate about community stewardship and civic responsibility. Her career began in television news, where she worked for two years before going into arts education programming. She then expanded her career to marketing/public relations and financial development. Most recently, she served as the Associate Executive Director of Resource Development at the University City YMCA and now the Resource Coordinator at Communities In Schools – Charlotte affiliate.

She is involved with community and civic volunteerism having served on several community boards and advisory councils. Sherry has her nonprofit management certification from Duke University’s Continuing Studies program; and she is a graduate of United Way of Central Carolinas, Inc. “Leading the Way” program. Originally from Asheville, Sherry has lived in Charlotte since 1992 after graduating from UNC-CH with a BA in Communications. She is "happily divorced" and has three children - M'Kyla, Sean and Ilona.
